The Museum was opened in 1974. Its name “Mingei” is derived from a Japanese word meaning “art of all people”. It is a non profit public foundation which exhibits folk art from all over the world. It has an ever- growing collection of 14,000 art objects.

The Museum is divided into six exhibition galleries, a multimedia education center, a theater, an administration center and an international art reference library. Different facilities depict different cultures of the world, for instance collection research center coordinates registration, storage, exhibition design and preparation areas with the adjacent reference library of books, films, videotapes, slides and photographs.

Mingei's collector store is dedicated to traditional folk art, craft and design. The Museum also provides educational programs to promote research study of different cultures including Indonesia, New Guinea and Japan.

Various documentaries are also prepared for educational purposes where toys and antique art is displayed.

Hours: Tue- Sun 10am- 4pm.
Closed on Monday & National Holidays.
Admission: Adult , Child (6- 17) .
