Museum of Contemporary Art- San Diego came into existence in 1916 which was later expanded in 1990's.

The Museum was once the home of Ellen Browning Scripps, who was noted San Diego Philanthropist. The huge collection of the Museum comprises of pop art of 1960's and 70's, conceptual art from 1960's to till date, installation art, Latin American Art, Californian Art, works of promising emerging artists and under recognized artists. The architecture of the museum is unparalleled. All art forms such as painting, sculpture, paper work, photography, video, film and installation is displayed here. From time to time not only new art work is added but also steps are taken to preserve the existing ones.

Free guided public tours are available at MCASD. The museum offers a full range of books on contemporary art, architecture, photography and culture.

Museum Hours: 11am- 5pm Weekdays, 11am- 7pm Thursdays,
11am- 5pm Weekends, Closed on Wednesday.

Admission: Adults ; Students/Military/Seniors ; MCASD members and children under 12, free.
Free Museum admission the third Tuesday of the month.
