Located in Presidio Park above Old Town State Historic Park was constructed in 1929. It was first built in 1769 by the Spanish Army as a fort; the Presidio lookout still provides a panoramic view of the city.

The adjacent museum was built in 1929 The Museum Store offers a complete selection of books on early San Diego and California history appropriate for children and adults.

The museum has a collection of antique clothes, artifacts, furniture, tools and army artillery. These articles give a brief idea about the early lifetime of the civilians and their way of life.

Park Rangers lead an outdoor tour on significant history of Presidio Park every second Sunday of the month from 1:00pm- 2:00pm. Tours meet in front of the Serra Museum and are free of charge.

Museum Hours:
Open every day, 10 am - 4:30 pm.
Closed Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, New Years Day, Christmas Day; open until 3pm Christmas Eve.

Admission Fee: -
Members get unlimited free admission.
