Mainly Mozart Festival will soon celebrate its 250 th birthday. Known as the finest annual classical music festivals in USA it comprises an array of concerts and classical events. Founded by Maestro David Atherton and assisted by Executive Director Nancy Laturno, features top orchestra bands performing 70 concerts. The festival also marks the inaugural MozartFest, a free, day- long outdoor celebration featuring dance, opera, Mexican waltzes, street art, and hands- on activities for kids.

The Festival gives opportunity to world's greatest composers with emphasis laid on traditional classical music.The first Mainly Mozart Festival was held in 1989, a series of nine concerts performed on the outdoor stage of the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park, received enthusiastic critical and public acclaim. Since then, Mainly Mozart has grown to a fully bi- national organization presenting over sixty concerts each year.

The Grammy- nominated Cuarteto Latinoamericano, a unique voice in classical music, bringing the works of Latin American composers to the world, is the Quartet in Residence at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University. On May 27, 28 & 29 the quartet performs the world premiere of a Mozart inspired work by composer Gabriela Ortiz, which was commissioned by Mainly Mozart Executive Board Member James Rosenfield.
