In San Diego and want to buy unusual and beautiful high quality folk art and ethnic hand crafts from around the world?

We have just the right place for you. Tomboctou is filled with authentic and extraordinary folk art and antique folk crafts from world renowned places primarily from Latin America, Mexico, and India.

Back from Tomboctou has been in business since 1983. It deals directly with local artisans in cottage industries and self- sufficient cooperatives. Here you will find an incredible collection of bright color, fantasy, meaning and traditions which one is not likely to find at the glamorous malls.

Each year in November, it hosts "The Days of the Dead" exhibition where the rooms are filled with authentic altar displays from Mexico's celebration of life and death.

A café, in the same premises serves refreshments. Occasionally it offers entertainment ranging from South American harp players to Gypsy jazz musicians, a perfect accompaniment to your browsing.
Any special order can be placed.

Hours: Mon- Sat 10- 6; Sun- variable.
