Balboa Park

Balboa Park is situated just few minutes away from downtown San Diego. It is spread in 1200 acres. It is known for its horticultural diversity. It has so many gardens – the butterfly garden, award winning rose garden, rare plant species, Botanical Building keeping about 2000 different tropical plants, 58 different varieties of Palm trees, lawns, peaceful places, big trees and lot more.

World famous San Diego Zoo, the Old Globe theatre, Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre and fifteen museums are part of Balboa Park. Here are about 85 cultural and recreational organizations. In san Diego Zoo you can watch exotic species of animals living in their natural habitats.

Kate O. Sessions is known as the ‘mother of Balboa Park' because of her great contribution to the park House of Pacific Relations, contains 17 cottages which house groups from 30 countries. Apart from it the Japanese Friendship Garden, Centro Cultural de la Raza and World Beat Center represent the ethnic diversity at the park.

Apart from these, playgrounds for kids, picnic areas, tennis courts, sports fields, golf course and swimming pool are also provided at Balboa Park.
