Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala is California's first Church. It marks the birth of Christianity and Catholicism in this part of the world. It is the first of the great California Missions.

Presently the Mission is open to the people of all faiths and is functioning as an active parish church. It was founded by Blessed Junipero Serra on July 16, 1769.

Food, games and music by ‘The Undertones' varying from old rock and roll to swing, are some of the features at Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala. A visit to the Mission offers an opportunity to see and understand the California history and culture of more than 200 years.

The Mission also reflects the influence of the mother country of Spain on it.
